September 2025 – PresentCover statewide policy and politics around Michigan with a concentration on impact-focused reporting, within the statehouse, in state and federal court, and across the whole Great Lakes State.
Focus coverage on social services and community issues, including education and food assistance programs, as well as on state-level response to Trump administration policies and the federal government shutdown.
Regularly attend state House and Senate hearings to cover legislative issues, including the FY2026 budget.
Publish at least five stories a week, ranging from short-term briefs to longer-form enterprise stories.
Investigative Reporting Workshop — Fellow | Washington, D.C.
June 2024 – September 2025Investigated Trump administration funding cuts to fair housing programs and reported on the ability and willingness of immigrants to use federal housing resources, published in Mother Jones.
Pitched, reported and wrote two in-depth investigations on maintenance processes in D.C.’s public housing and on unpaid housing code violation fines in the District, published in Washington City Paper.
Created & analyzed a dataset of officer-involved deaths investigated by the New York Attorney General’s Office.
Analyzed data in Excel and used visualization tools to effectively convey complex quantitative information.
ProPublica — Medill Investigative Lab Writer | Washington, D.C.
January 2025 – August 2025Worked with ProPublica reporter Debbie Cenziper and a team of Northwestern students to report and write investigative articles regarding the FDA’s lack of enforcement of quality standards for generic drugs.
Reported on impact of FDA layoffs under DOGE on drug safety and quality, especially the loss of support staff.
Helped cover follow-up responses on Capitol Hill and the FDA and collected tips from external sources.
Chicago Tribune — FOIA Intern/Freelancer | Chicago
January 2025 – June 2025Analyzed State and Local Fiscal Recovery Funds data to file dozens of records requests regarding the use of American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funding in Illinois, Cook County and the city of Chicago.
Organized request returns to find important takeaways to report on further; communicated with FOIA officers to find more details of financial and performance metrics for specific ARPA-funded programs.

Communicated with leaders in both houses of the N.J. state legislature, the Governor’s office, and major campaigns around the state, and tracked important legislation throughout the legislative process.
